Dare Dream

Read the book "The Alchemist" - A magical fable about following your dream by Paulo Coelho which inspires anybody to achieve their dream and teaches to dare dream.

Santiago, a boy earns his common living in Andalusia by trading the shepherds. One day he has a dream of hidden treasure in Egyptian Pyramids and seeks advice to go to Pyramids to find the treasure. Melchizedek, the King of Salem, also motivates him to go and find his dream treasure. He also presents him with Urim and Thummim stones, which aids him whenever he is in any trouble. In-order to find his soul’s desire, he sells his shepherds to fund his journey towards the Pyramids. During his journey, a thief steals all his money and he is left with nothing. He decides to go back to his place but again he decides to proceed to achieve his dream. He spends a year working in a crystal merchant’s shop to earn his living and money to reach his destination. He learns arabic and life lessons there and later decides to move on. He faces too many troubles and meeting obstacles . He also meets love of his life Fatima at the oasis. With his courage and determination finally he makes it to find his treasure buried under the old church which he first dreamt. Alchemy does not mean mixing different metals to discover gold but slowly getting rid of all the impurities in one’s character and reaching the pure gold state.

I like the below abstract from the alchemist.

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it...”
“A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such speed. It feels an impulsion ... this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond the horizons.”
“We have to take advantage when luck is on our side, and do as much to help it as its doing to help us. Its called the principle of favorability. Or beginners luck.”

If you carefully watch the movie “Om Shanti Om” by Farah Khan, It reflects the story of Santiago. Om Prakash Makhija a junior artist always dreamt of being a Super Star like Rajesh Kapoor and believed in “agar kisi cheez ko agar dil se chaho to saari kayanath tumhe usse milane ki koshish me lag jaati hai”. And finally he is re-born to fulfil his dream and love – Om Kapoor - A Super Star (pandrah solah imported gaadiyaan hongi, yash chopra ke sets ki tarah shaandar bedroom hoga, gold bed ke saath “eshtyle mein” Makhmal ka suit etc. etc… . Om Shanti Om is an abstract though, its typical hindi movie with tons of entertainment and one can surely never be left bored.

Finally to add up, one beautiful dialogue from “Om Shanti Om” that I love the most, without this, the post is incomplete.

“Kitni shiddat se tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai.. Ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai…”

Happy’s Endings…ummmm
